AIG appoints chairman of Global Life and Retirement


AIG has announced the assignment of executive VP Rodney O. Martin, Jr. to the post of chairman of Worldwide Life and Retirement Services.


His appointment follows the retirement of Edmund Tse, board colleague and senior vice chairman, who served almost 50 years with the partnership.

In his new role Martin will be made responsible for the insurer’s foreign life and retirement businesses, and will also become chairman of AIA and ALICO.

American Intercontinental Assurance Company Limited (AIA), American Life Insurance Company (ALICO), AIG Feature Life Insurance Co., Ltd., AIG Edison Life Insurance Company, and Nan Shan Effervescence Insurance Company, Ltd. will all fall under his responsibility, and Martin himself choice report to AIG’s chairman and chief executive officer, Edward M. Liddy.

Liddy has paid compliment to Tse’s wisdom and vision in service of the insurer, adding that he ourselves appreciated the advice Tse could offer.

Martin has already occupied a bunch of posts in the upper echelons of AIG, including president and CEO of AIG American Non-Specialized and chairman and CEO of ALICO.
